The Trip: Part 2

Well, the rest of the drive to Utah was pretty uneventful. We had a lovely time with the family over the Fourth. We even got to go on a float in the Waverly Parade. Ah, the joys of throwing candy at people and pelting them in the back!!! The kids were throwing handfuls of candy at the spectators. I had to apologize on a regular basis for the unintentional hits. And then there was the occasional "Make sure to go to the dentist" comments from the wagon. Most lookers-on found that funny...We were throwing enough candy at them to last well into the next season (Halloween) after all.
After the parade, it was back to the house for lunch and clean up from the morning festivities. We went to the hotel for naps and swim time.
The dinner barbecue was a success...Aaron sure knows how to grill the burgers. We even had grilled pineapple! Oh, and then there was the fireworks. Dan sure knows how to place a house for optimal viewing of all the local displays of patriotism. We say all the explosions and even the grand display from the local community. Then it was off to bed at the early hour of 11p. What a day!!!!!
Sunday was a crazy day of early morning Church, they meet at 830! Yikes. Had to get every one up and showered and clean from a the late night festivities. Morgan almost fell asleep during the meeting. We checked out of the one hotel and into another...the Hansen clan ended up with a smoking room for the past few nights and needed to change. We all went with them. After another late night and dinner with the group at Nate's place. What a tasty meal. We even had some awesome cheesecake for dessert.
Sunday was a relatively early night with the kids. They were asleep by about 930p. We woke and packed, again. We were off to the races, or the freeway, again. Jared was the lead van. I keep seeing a grey van in front of me....when will it stop. We went that way all the way into Utah, with a layover in Laramee. We did split up the wee folk. Allyn and Morgan went with them and Hannah and Emma went with me. They are not book people, so they watched videos. They did have some fun with the A'Capella music we had with us. They loved "McDonald's Girl", they found it wildly amusing, especially the end.
We rolled into Utah Tuesday afternoon. The Hansen's and Fries split up in Salt Lake. They to Nevada and we were off to Eagle Mountain. My brain was not of the mind to try this blog last night. But I am doing it with the help of Miriam...she has put the computer to sleep once and messed with the mouse innumerable times. She wants my attention now!!!
I will put pix up, hopefully later today.
Well, that's it...we made it to Utah for the summer!!! Yeah us.

Sooooo....thinking about any more road trips before you head back to Georgia?
