Two weeks' update

Happy Constitution Day!!!!  Well, OK, it was yesterday.  The anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution spawned a great conversation between us and Allyn about government and responsibilities and the divine nature of our great land.

The last two weeks have been extremely hectic.

We drove from Arizona to Georgia over the Labor Day weekend.  Our itinerary took us on I-10 through Austin, TX (to visit Brian and Janine), up to I-20 and Jackson, Mississippi, through Atlanta, and out to Augusta, Georgia.  It took us just at 6 days to make the whole trip.

We stayed two nights with Brian and Janine and went out to eat with them in downtown Austin.  We went to a place called “Truluck’s” for seafood and stuff.  It was good but very expensive.  And dessert… mmmmmmm key lime cake!  Amazing.

We stayed one night in Jackson, MS and shared the hotel with many people who had lost everything in southern Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.  When we got up the next day, it took us right around 6 hours to get enough gas to get out of the state.  Of course, it only cost 2.49 a gallon.  Just further evidence that state-mandated price controls keep the price down but make the supply get used up faster.  Who cares if it only costs 2.49/gal if you there’s no more gas to buy?  Raise the price so that supply and demand are equalized by that great “invisible hand.”

Because it took so long to find gas, we decided to stay the next night in Atlanta.  We got a nice hotel downtown and really enjoyed our stay.

Since we arrived in Augusta, we’ve been hustling to find all the things that we’re supposed to be doing.  We finally got garbage pick-up arranged, internet/phone connected (just last week), Allyn enrolled in school, etc.  It’s been busy.  Only having one vehicle has also proved to be tedious and difficult.  Renee is excited that I’ll be getting a motorcycle or ANYTHING soon.  Same here.

I’d like to send out our new address and phone but this IS the internet and anyone can get it.  If you need/want our address and I’ve been slipshod about sending it to you already, email us and we’ll send it out.
