Sunday Update

Another Sunday has come around in the middle of our family hurricane.

Movers came on Thurs/Fri and packed up the house.  They left all of Renee’s jam (seems like 200 mason jars) and everything else that may be a liquid.  They did a good job, though.

Renee handled it all herself with some friends’ help on Thursday.  I had to be in my class both days 8-5 and there was no way I could talk them out of giving me a little time to help out.  So, this weekend we’ve got all the little cleaning stuff to square away.  I’d say that we’re leaving the place much, much better than we found it.  I put in a small yard and cleaned up the outside quite a bit.  And Renee really fixed up the inside and fought to have a number of problems inside the house resolved by the company that managed the house.

We’re staying at the home of one of our family friends, the Wahlen’s.  They’ve got a pretty spacious mother-in-law apartment attached to their house that they offered for our use until we hit the road on Wednesday.  We’re very fortunate to have good friends here.

The plan is still set for us to leave on Wednesday night.  I “graduate” my course on Wed and should be home by noon.  We’ll get the small Uhaul trailer, fill it up with the last stuff from the house, and get on our way.  We’ll drive through Wed night and head for Austin, TX to stay with Brian and Janine Thurs and Fri nights.  We’ve got a lot of catching up to do with our old friends down Texas-way.  Sat morning we’ll take off from Austin and head for Jackson, Mississippi.  We’ll stay the night there and Sun morning head for Augusta, Georgia.

That’s the plan for right now, we’ll see how it actually goes once we get right up to the moment.
